For as far back as I can remember, I had a special interest in birds; and would always look forward to spending time with my grandma's chickens. Among them was a rooster, my beloved AJ, whose gentle demeanour was hidden behind a towering presence. I can still picture him barely touching my ankle with his beak, kindly nudging me back on course, if I ever strayed; which I did, on a few occasions. For the longest time, the only cakes I "baked" were made of grass and leaves, adorned with cherries placed on top for the chickens.

Today, my partner Toby and I set out to find uplifting messages that can be drawn from the myriad species of winged muses. These messages are conveyed using haiku — short one-breath poems that combine distinct images to evoke a feeling. Each product in this shop features a haiku written by us which highlights one of the main qualities of a bird and contemplates life's essence.
